Another Year

December 28, 2009

Another year, another chance to start our lives anew,
Imagine if you already knew.
You have no new year to start anew,
It is the end so they all say it is all done.
You could choose to ignore them all and believe none.

Another year, another chance to start our lives anew,
Talk to those you love the most would there be a slew?
You have no new year to start anew,
It is the last thirty days and then there are none.
Many have different beliefs sparing occasionally some.

Another year, another chance to start our lives anew,
I’d walk and pray and paint day and night too!
You have no new year to start anew,
You have only twenty nine days to go one is done.
Hurriedly you complete all paperwork over the phone.

Another year, another chance to start our lives anew,
I’d get my bicycle out everyday and smell the fresh air too!
You have no new year to start anew,
You have only twenty six days to go and all is done.
The paperwork took longer than necessary soon there will be only one.

Another year, another chance to start our lives anew,
Spend time with those you knew,
You have no new year to start anew,
Tell no one you have no new year to start, pun.
You want to spend more time with your daughter and son.

Another year, another chance to start our lives anew,
You have no new year to start anew,
Decisions made like He said take one day each day anew.
No one is even promised tomorrow said His Only Son.
Hurriedly you pray for structure and vision to finish each one.

Another year, another chance to start our lives anew,
You have no new year to start anew,
Hours and hours become too few.
Remembering His promise while watching the setting sun done.
Now I must write and paint throughout the night, ready for the rising sun.

Another year, another chance to start our lives anew,
You have no new year to start anew,
Living life all along one day each day anew.
Photographing the sun as it peaks over the ocean, whew! Done.
Views and views I try to capture them, all that water weighs a ton.

Another year, another chance to start our lives anew,
You have no new year to start anew,
Weeks are passing and I don’t want to spew!
I really don’t want to leave and more labs are due, just that one.
The dying really live in a world of shun.

Another year, another chance to start our lives anew,
You have no new year to start anew,
Hoping God would get a new clue!
Slowing down from lack of sleep pushing through, just another one.
Hope restored with good news not this time will I bid adeau, thank you Son.

Wolf

Celebrations Small and Great

Quietly sleeping I was awakened by the doorbell! Over and over the doorbell rang! As I peeked around the corner from the hallway I could see a man ringing and ringing the doorbell. Not recognizing the man and not expecting someone at the door I had decided not to answer. That is the house rule; if you are not expecting anyone and they did not call first don’t answer the door unless you absolutely know them! His persistence was starting to make me anxious! He’d ring the bell then wait not an emergency over and over kind or ringing! Ring! Then pause for a few minutes, then ring, then pause a few minutes! Very deliberate ring!

This person was not going away; my house mate opens his door and rambles to the front door in a sleep. Opening the door he saw a black dog with the man at the door who turned out to be the new neighbor. “Is this your dog? He would not let me read his collar. He is too nervous and scared.”  Jeri could hardly believe his eyes! Especially since Jeri did not have his glasses on. There in the entryway stood, his black Wolf right there with a neighbor! Still sleepy I thought to myself it sure looks like his Wolf. “I found this dog and he stayed in and near the yard and came over to my house and was waiting.  “He is your dog, I have seen him here,” as the neighbor at the door replied.

“He’s not my wolf,” replied Jeri as he looked around the house. Calling Wolf and realizing there was no response within, his face was stunned and confused,  in his shocked tone he started thanking the neighbor for his persistence. “I don’t know how this happened?” “I let them outside after two and thought they both came in.” He never turns the lights on and Wolf is solid black so he must not have seen him in the dark and without his glasses. I am so glad this wonderful neighbor brought him back.

Since rescuing Wolf from the mountain man that had been so mean and rough with Wolf he had spent a lot of time caring for Wolf as he brought Wolf down from the animal rescue center in the mountains. Wolf was solid black, and so small and sick all the way home he threw up little stones and pieces of sticks. He has been a very scared animal and is very sweet. Being past the puppy stage Wolf doesn’t know how to play with people. His constant companion and friend a large Boxer Bullmastiff with a very calm demeanor has been teaching him how to play with ropes in tug of war and tag chase. Hopefully he will learn to play ball or Frisbee somedayand maybe ro[e and ball.

Knowing that Wolf ’s return was absolutely a miracle,  Jeri was always paranoid about all the complements he gets on his dogs. He always tried to keep a special eye out for the dogs since animals become members of his family. Hard to believe! If he had not have been returned, Jeri would never have gotten over the loss!

Of course I scolded him about doing a head count, since he retired from a job where keeping track of people was imperative. Just could not believe it myself! Why we have only witnessed two other dogs that look like Wolf.

So I quietly celebrate the safe return of Wolf and I will always remember he is very fast and you cannot see him in the dark if his eyes aren’t open. Glad it wasn’t me who let poor Wolf in the yard all night without his little bed and teddy bear. By the way little Wolf is nearly a hundred pounds and 7 hands tall now! He will alqays be the baby.

Sweet Dreams

July 17, 2009

So you have dreams,

Never dreamed of much,

Dreams are usually wishes,

Wishes that are not real.

Sweet dreams are healthy,

About the usual loves,

Dreams are usually wishes,

Wishes that are not real.

Dreams on the material,

About the surreal,

Dreams are usually wishes,

Wishes that are not real.

Surreal material,

Not sweet at all,

Dreams are usually wishes,

Wishes that are not real.

Surreal, material, steal,

Your heart and mind,

Dreams are usually wishes,

Wishes that are not real.

 Sweet dreams are real,

Sweet dreams of much,

Dreams are usually wishes,

Wishes can be real.

Sweet dreams are wealthy,

About the usual loves,

Dreams are usually wishes,

Wishes can be real.

Dreams on the material serial,

About the surreal,

Dreams are usually wishes,

Wishes that are not real.

Dreams on the deal,

Not sweet at all,

Dreams are usually wishes,

Wishes that are not real.

Stay real and heal,

Your heart and mind,

Dreams are usually wishes,

These wishes can be real.

Entering Another Culture

May 10, 2009

On the surface,
Men in black,
Mind’s eye lens,
Some she’s clad in skin.
Gasoline and odoriferous rubber,
Entering underground.

Like Shakespearean stages,
Catwalks ‘ “Four Corners,”
Leather and safety.
Men in blue and gray,
Crosswalks and music,
Appetites soar from searing air.

Boots on wood decks,
Akin to Blackbeard’s day.
Shipping on land,
Oh, what a sight,
Vendors with ware,
Speaking with care.

Tomorrow brings sun,
Entering another culture,
Oh, what fun, seeing!
No hatred here,
Others and Harley’s galore,
Sharing and ogling!

Chrome and mirrors,
Testosterone and pipes,
Oh, the sight of rubber chips.
Free tires today, Oh yeah!
Peaceful and free,
America, how it used to be!

Wind in your hair,
Freedom to dare.
Nowadays posse’s in blue,
Snare those crossing the limit.
Underground stay put,
You may be America’s last stand!

Don’t give up and don’t quit,
That’s what He would say.
Live for today,
Tomorrow may not come.
Ships still sail daily,
See you on the ‘Catwalks’!

Dear Past Me, Dear Future Me

March 14, 2009

Over the past

No reparations due

Shadows no longer cast

Memories to view

Many times being aghast

Name changes you accrue

Hoping for a recast

Dreams falling through

Not even youth hast

Not necessary for you

Life is passing in the mast

Daily delights ensue

Wonder and patience last

Enters ‘The Teach’ with no ado

A friend unsurpassed

Encouraging sailing through

Future may be a blast

Just learn to be you true

Stop anxiety about the miscast

Opening eyes see lives imbue

Ceasing your person’s glassed

Mast with sails comes breezing through

New faith found amassed

Love captures your lives subdue

Love and living should broadcast

Forthcoming life overdue

Spinnaker moving like ballast

Living is no debut

Juliet and her beau were not up to the task

Blackbeard ‘The Teach’ true blue

‘Feather’ knows He Is First and Last

He blesses us both a life precast.

A Totally Optional Prompt

What is?

Conversations,

Everything really is,

Conversations,

Life really is,

Conversations,

Friendship really is,

Conversations,

Child rearing is,

Conversations,

Feeding people is,

Conversations,

Choosing not to love is,

Loving is,

Not totally optional,

Love is,

Spontaneous,

That inner prompt,

Totally rational,

Love is,

That inner prompt,

Love is,

Conversations,

Love is,

Unconditional,
